So when I got back into the hobby about 3-4 years ago it was because of my love of the Spitfire. I was lucky enough to grow up in central otago and was often treated to the sights and sounds of Sir Tim Wallace's Warbirds. So its time to build one. I had three to chose from. 1/32 Pacific Coast Mk IXie, 1/32 Hobby Boss Vb and the Tamiya 1/32 Mk XIII.
I chose the Hobby Boss kit because it looked like the easiest build!. The rest will follow at a later date.
So I have Montex Masks, Aero Bonus Pilot w/seat and Yahu Instrument panel. I may or may not do some scratch building...depending on how I feel.
So first things first.. Whats everyones go to colour for RAF cockpits?
XF-71 I actually have so that is what it will be..Im going try real hard to not over detail this one ..the engine wont be seen as it will be covers on ..so will just be kit parts..other than the pilot and instrument panel the cockpit will be the same.
Construction is underway on the Hobby Boss 1/32 Spit Vb. Having a wee bit of a play with some light preshading on the interior. Also got the base coat down on the engine..Trying to restrain myself and not add much if any extra detail as this is technically a test run for when I build the Tamiya 1/32 later on down the road. I found the sprue gates are quite large on this kit. Still got some detail painting on the engine. I have built the main cannons. More to come a bit later on..apologies for the phone pics.
Cheers guys...Boring stuff at the moment...construction.. will post some more when I get into the detailing of the engine and interior..Planning on trying a few different techniques on this one..as I said a training run for a later project. If it turns out ok I may gift it to my father when I go down for the Wanaka Airshow..I think he would like that!
WOW! Actually got close to a full day at the bench! So did some minor detail painting and chipping..finished building the engine...built the guns and primed..primed the gunbays. Also made a start on painting the pilot...figure painting is not something I have really had a crack at but we will see how we go. I added the Yahu instrument panel and will fill the gauge faces with some Gauzy. Add a little wear around it. Happy Days!
