Been doing a fair bit over the past couple of days. Here's the undercarriage with weathering almost finished. I applied a wash of Ammo Deep Grey and then created the chipping with Vallejo acrylics applied with a 000 brush.

I also fitted the bomb bay doors. Less fiddly than I was expecting. Oil leaks applied as per reference photos.

Another couple of hours work tonight. Airbrushing the undersides with Vallejo matt coat, Applying micro chipping to the prop blades, main gear wheels, tail wheel. Adding oil effects to the undercarriage and assembling the main gear. Have apllied a dusty wash to the tyres and will finish them off with a dust with some pigments.

Revealing the engine. Just needs a bit of grease and grime around the casing.

Airbrushed with Vallejo aluminium, flat coated and then given a wash with medium grey and hit with another flat coat to give the oxidised look

Airbrushed with Mr Metal aluminium and polished with a cotton bud. Will give a coat of semi gloss to tone it down a little.

Front of engine given an oil leak, micro chipping and dusty pigments. Front of cowling treated to some micro chipping.

Prop complete.

Having a fight with the main gear trying to get it aligned. Also airbrushed the front end of the torpedo with Tamiya dark iron enamel which gives a nice metallic black look.

Just like the real thing, this kit is pretty heavy too. I just hope those legs are up to the task.

Not overly happy with that chipping on the leading edges as it is. Thinking of the best way to rectify it. I might just apply a bit of aluminium chipping to it and hit with a matt coat. I will also mix up a dusty wash of Ammo's light dust pigment mixed with water. This will be applied roughly over the upper surface of the inner wings, left to dry and then worked in with a large dry brush. This should tone down that chipping too.

Try using AK True Metal, its the wax one in a tube, mix it with burnt ochre oil paint apply with a sponge to give a really good dulled chip effect.
I used to use printers silver mixed with BU Oil but it was becoming hard to get hold of so found that the True metals was as good.

Thanks Gary. Used to use a similar mix in the 'old days' when the only available paints were Humbrol and Testors. I think I first usex it with Tamiya chrome silver after reading one of Francois Verlinden's articles. I'll give that a go. Thanks for jogging the memory banks.

So, my chipping effort was pissing me off every time I looked at it over the weekend. Decided this morning to fix it. Carefully masked and resprayed the affected areas. Luckily it all blended in nicely.

Gary's chipping suggestion coming up next.

Adding some streaking/fading to leading edges by sponging on light grey oil and blending with a brush moistened in white spirits.

Have also begun on the chipping by sponging dark grey oil.

Pencil work complete. These photos were taken before I applied another coat of matt varnish which has had the affect of making it look more subtle.

Slurry of Ammo Dust and water applied to upper wing surfaces where I wan't to give the effect of crew and maintenance traffic. This slurry can be reworked after it has dried.

The slurry has dried. I will manipulate this tonight.

Getting close to calling this one done now. I have loved this build, but looking forward to starting on a new project.
