Back on the bench and wings now attached. What a nice fit and they feel sturdy.

Excuse the language, but she's a huge biatch!

Remembered I needed to mask and airbrush the serial numbers before attaching the horizontal stabilisers.

Glued on the horizontal stabilisers. Fit at top was very nice and underside needs some filling... or so I thought.

Now things are about to get %=÷#$% ugly! Early on it became apparent that the dihedral was too great. The Avenger's stabilisers should be level with the horizon. I decided to set her aside and go out for the day. The issue is too much for me to ignore, so I am going to break them off, repair the damage from doing so, reattach, fill joins that there will definitely be on the upper and lower sides and touch up the intermediate blue and insignia white areas.

Well done getting the fix sorted. One thing I've learned is bonding plastic together with Revell Contacta glue means any attempt to break the joint apart (even after partly set) is with the understanding it won't happen willingly, and the parts will be totally trashed during the process!

Worth doing though painful. Having pull a number of things apart two or three times in the last day or so I get the pain, but getting it right is always worth it. Such a good looker this one. The paint looks superb so far, particularly the signage.

Wingroot demarcations masked with blu tac and plenty of tape to avoid overspray.

Same treatment needs to be applied to horizontal stabilisers, but that's a job for tomorrow.

Horizontal stabiliser roots masked and painted this morning.

Upper wing roundel white portions masked and blue airbrushed. Lines drawn with permanent marker to make realignment of masks easier.

Wing painting underway. I first sprayed a layer of intermediate blue followed by a coat of primer green and then clouded on some intermediate blue over this.

Next will come a coat of gloss and then I will spray light layers of the dark sea blue and then I am going to gently sand tbis to reveal areas of the green and lighter blue underneath. Was initially going to use the salt method, but want to experiment. The initial coat of blue acts as insurance should I accidentally rub through the green.

Painting of wings underway. Did some preshading with dark gray and then thin layers of highly thinned intermediate blue to tone it down and blend.

Next step will be building up layers of highly thinned dark sea blue.

Walkways applied and gjven same treatment.

Need to paint the filler caps red and then it's time to remove all of this tape and hit the new paint with clearcoat. Then it's weathering time.

Well into the first round of weathering - undersides have had the Ammo Pacific Dust PLW applied and excess removed. The fuselage panel lines also completed. Just working on the wings and horizontal stabilisers now. On the Corsair I used a medium grey wash on the dark sea blue. I'm using Pacific Dust overall on this build.

PLW applied

PLW cleaned up

Port wing PLW underway

First round completed.

Next stage requires a flat coat, so I will airbrush a couple of coats of Vallejo matt tomorrow.
