Hi guys,

Last night I finally tore into the sprue bags and got this one underway.

I will be using the following sets and adding scratch built details as I go;

Barracuda wheel set

HGW fabric harnesses

Montex masks for the RNZAF bird

This is where I am so far. Going together nicely and great details. Will enhance with a bit of wiring.

Have just decided to also get the Barracuda Studios cockpit placard decal sheet which is made up of 50 decals. Really adds to the look of the cockpit.

Nice one Si! I got the same kit a couple of years back from Aus. I've got the barracuda cockpit placards for the tamiya mustang and while there are lots they do add a lot to the look of the cockpit. Still haven't build the trigger on my corsair yet either, I will wait for you to do yours and blatantly borrow (steal) your good ideas. B)

Last night I assembled the rear fuselage structure;

Also cut all of the remaining cockpit parts off the sprues. Also attached the bulkhead sections of the fuselage behind the pilot. The fit of these inserts is so precise, that you can't even tell that they are separate pieces. Loving it!

This kit could be my mojo restorer.

The main area I've been working on this evening;

A lot more trimming parts off sprues and prepping for priming too.

More work on that central wing section tonight and have built the tail wheel assembly. There are 9 parts in this sub assembly alone.

Really need to start priming and painting the interior parts, air intakes etc so I can get deeper into the assembly phases.

Happy with today's progress. Cockpit components mostly painted, drybrushing of black items with dark grey oils, details picked out with Vallejo acrylics

Thanks for the reference material John. Wish I'd stumbled across that earlier. I'm not too fussed though, as the only area you can see any of this primer is through the tail wheel bay.

Detail painting complete, I gave all of the cockpit parts that I intend to apply a wash to, a coat of clear (X-22 + Mr Leveling thinner with a misting of neat thinner afterwards to give more sheen).

Will apply a brownish wash tomorrow night and then knock it back with some Alclad Flat Kote.

It may sound surprising with the pace this is going together, but I'm still not feeling the mojo. Going through a break up at the moment which isn't helping I guess.

Sorry to hear that Si. If a kit as good as this can't get your mojo going then maybe a step back for a while until you are feeling it might be an idea. Or keep plugging away at it, to help take your mind off things.

Cheers guys, unfortunately it all went down in a pretty ugly way. The so called 'spiritual' group she had been with and we fought hard to get her away from because they are seriously dodgy AF have somehow managed to suck her back in. They have been threatening me with legal action because the think I am making defamatory threats against them. I know exactly what they really are. I actually received another threatening email from them last night, while I was applying this wash.

Anywho, enough of that BS!

Wash made of raw umber oil and odourless turps applied, left to dry and excess removed.

The beauty of this hobby is the break it can offer from the real world and I must say your work is very impressive considering the distraction the real world is throwing at you.
