First congrats, John, love the 109E, very nice indeed. Next, I've got an IAR-80 ordered too, so I'd be interested in a 1:48 sheet aswell, also does anyone know if he does decals for Romanian Hurricanes ??

Yep HB kit... like the more 'left field' aircraft & schemes, really like Romanian stuff especially. Have had a decal sheet for a Russian Liberation Army 109G in store for twenty years and still not got around to building one !!
Excellent rendition John. Is the colour Olive Drab?
For me there's a clash or 'juxtaposition' between the Cross national insignia and the Donald Duck & 'Alice' artwork & name ... An 'Axis vs Allied' thing ... somewhat expressive of Romania's divisive & changing position in WW2, which your model inspired me to investigate ...
My preference - WW2 RNZAF & Pacific Theatre, Allied & Axis, ETO, Mediterranean, AFV & figures
I enjoy doing research
Thanks for the kind comments.
Matchbox always seemed to offer great alternative schemes. The 1/32 109 has Slovenian markings which are rarely seen. I have some Hungarian decals in the way for my Eduard G6 another colourful user of the 109...
All of the Grupul 7 109s had Donald Duck as he was the unit insignia and a lot of the Aircraft had cowling names. The Romanians initially operated E3's but then got a few E7's as replacements for attritional losses. They swapped bits around so canopies got mixed as did spinners.
If some one wants to do one let me know I can supply some decals..
It's painted in RLM 71 with 65 lower surfaces. There is some debate as to the use of RLM 70 or 71 but nothing is definitive.
