My current set are the tamiya extra fine ones too, work very good but still leave a bit of a nub to clean up. They are getting a tiny bit dull so have had to sharpen them a bit, has helped somewhat.

For those trying out the real colo(u)rs, have you found any conversion charts? thinking Model Air, Ammo and Tamiya in particular

On a forum called brexitmodeller. They ran a ‘weekend in a weekend’ GB. Basically build an Eduard Weekend kit over the course of 2 consecutive days..

The GB was underpinned by Eduard.

I built the 1/48 I-16 Type 24.

well done to those who got some AK Real Colors from BNA, as they now have a note saying they can only be send by road. :(

I guess I wait for the euro to take a lil dive and get the whole set, still sitting over the $400 mark so Jacinda and co would want their share.
Unless they could label 114 paints as 'a gift'

So apart from being a lacquer and in a Gunze / Tamiya style bottle what’s the fuss over the AK paints.???????

For me, coverage and finish is just better than anything I have tried. I can airbrush it (even straight onto plastic) and it forms a perfect smooth 'almost matt' finish and resists tape well. Because of the very high pigment level it can also be brushed straight from the pot with good results, whereas we all know how vallejo/ak/mig acrylics are with a brush for the most part.

I am using it right now along with regular acrylics, and it is a lot easier to get an even smooth coverage

It seems to have all the advantages of Tamiya acrylics, without the iffy colour range and lack of adhesion that put me off Tamiya originally. Also it seems less smelly.

Ok so nothing really different to using Mr color, Tamiya / Gunze acrylics thinned with lacquer thinnners, decanted Tamiya spray cans or the new Tamiya Lacquer paints...

It is similiar to Tamiya/Gunze to be sure, but maybe slightly better and the colour range is very very nice.

Im thinning with Tamiya acrylic thinner (on account of having a lovely big bottle), which seems to match perfectly. I see no reason to use narsty lacquer thinners!

Couple of things arrived, new Meng 1/35 Merkava IV with Trophy system. I am trying to find somewhere with the meng resin full stowage baskets available as builds I've seen with them, it really adds to the look of the tank's rear bustle and rear baskets on the hull.

New Meng side cutters (1 for me and 1 for another guy at my work) and Meng black CA. To give yoU an idea on the thinness of the cutting surface on these, if you get a standard staple, the blade is the same thickness as the staple, so about half the size of my tamiya ones. I also noticed the font used was the same as the shadow circle cutter people have been buying and sure enough, they are branded Meng DSPIAE.

Yeah I thought that when I looked at them after you mentioned them on my post. I think you'll find that Meng have just rebadged the DSPIAE cutters, they look identical to mine.

It's plenty different. It is more like using standard Tamiya acrylic, or Gunze Aqueous Color. It's a lacquer in the same sense as Tamiya acrylic is a lacquer. It is not a 'hot' smelly lacquer.
