Yeah, the modern Russian jets look awesome, especially in some of the more exotic schemes they get painted in by the former Soviet counties. Much better than the wall to wall grey of most American jets.

Not worried about which colour when it comes to the real thing US jets win everytime. Got that from a colonel in the Iraqi airforce who got out after the first gulf war!

So how would a poorly trained Iraqi pilot in a US Jet fair against a well-trained US pilot in a Russian Jet? A good pilot still counts regardless of the plane ;)
As for the quality of the Russian stuff, it's probably very comparable against the US equivalents. Don't forget the Russians had the first plane capable of a vertical climb, I may not be a fan of jets but I know a bit about some of the tech that goes in to them and the Russians have always been able to do more with less, especially when it comes to computers and software.

Hi Elliot :)

I got them through ebay. I should've really got them through this site

Model and Hobby Books

He quoted 51 euro delivered for the two of them, works out to around NZ$98. How does price that compare to JADAR?

Picked up something completely different:

cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_...me=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT

No box, but since I plan on building it (honestly I do) I'm not too bothered not paying 'collectors' prices. Hopefully it's all legit but at NZ$26 it's not a huge loss if it's not.

Nice, makes me want to dig out some of my old SW kits I've got lurking in the stash. The the ones seemed quite cheap to.

Ooooh, that's two nice kits. I've had AFV Club's 251/9 n' the Dragon Ju88G-6 in my stash before but sold 'em both. The differences between the 251/3 n' the 251/9 is just a couple of sprues. It's a great kit indeed. n' the nachtjäger is crisp in it's details n' will build into a great representation of a Luftwaffe workhorse. I even got 400SEK for the bird when I sold it...

Ouch, dude you should have told me you were going to be paying that much for them, I could have got you both for 24 euro delivered. I figured you were paying the standard 12 or so euro.

My wife calls me a curmudgeon. I haven't looked it up but I assume it means "fun loving and free spirited" or some such twaddle. I inform and perform over at www.militarymodels.co.nz and stick my oar in here as well. My passion is WWII 1/35 armour but I'm coming around to liking the odd 1/32 thing...

Yeah, I'm looking forward to building the AFV 251. I have several Dragon 251s in the stash, but this will be my first AFV Club version. The Ju88 should be good fun too. I'll give it a bit of a tweak with some AM barrels, and maybe the Master 1/48 FuG 220 Lichtenstein SN-2 set.

this past week has seen some rather delectable goodies turn up...

One Revell (nee Matchbox) Privateer along with a few accessories, and today another box with an Italeri Hellcat and Corsair.

Good times ahead...

Cheers

I hope you intend blogging the kit here? I've always loved the Matchbox Privateer, I remember drooling over it in the 1987 Matchbox catalogue

Hmmm, I've seen some impressive foil finishes but have no idea how you go about doing it. I might have to give it a go.

I'm going to use them on my Morser Dio, along with a bunch of other bits and bobs.

HI there

Sadly, no I won't be blogging this build online - it's for a magazine so there won't be any sneaky peeks until it's done (or nearly done)

Cheers
