Realised I haven't updated for a while so this looks like a lot but this is from June and July ( includes review kits ). There's also a pile of little bits that have already gone into the cupboard ( barrels, wheels, PE etc ) so can't be arsed pulling them out again. This lot was building up in the office so decided to cram them into a cupboard this afternoon. Amazing how fast it builds up.

My wife calls me a curmudgeon. I haven't looked it up but I assume it means "fun loving and free spirited" or some such twaddle. I inform and perform over at www.militarymodels.co.nz and stick my oar in here as well. My passion is WWII 1/35 armour but I'm coming around to liking the odd 1/32 thing...

So is this all stuff you buy or do people send it to you for free??? Lucky you either way. I have to say though that I always thought those daukelbauch(sp?) bf110's were hideous. They remind me of the head of a blue whale with all the striations on the underside of the mouth... kinda like this...

bf110d dackelbauch

about 65/35 in that lot, 11 of the 28 are review kits that manufacturers send to have reviews done on for my site. Which just goes to remind me I have to pull finger and actually get a few of them done.

Nice, I suppose it means SWMBO can't complain about you spending too much money on kits if people are sending them to you for free :woohoo: If you have trouble finding space to keep all the aircraft kits I have a couple of spare cubboards where I could store them for you

Well, Dean, if you EVER feel like getting someone to "do your homework for you" I'd be more than chuffed to review one or three kits for ya!
I'd even pay postage. .. and I'm not shy about tar- . . .I mean . . armour.
:shhh:

Meanwhile, I solved the issue of how to deal with the minor glitch in the $5 Mono F-104 I bought a bit ago. Since I want to build CF-104s I need the -G tail, and that one is a -C.
Picked up on Evilbay, $20 + change shipped:

Dig the funky yellow!
So, instead of faffing about with profiles and guesstimation I'll merely make this;

look like this:

Oddly, the yellow doesn't put me off. I'm rather taken with the JaBo Reißverschluss* scheme. Nice option to 'go disco' without doing a display aeros bird.

Probably similar odds to what you'd get for the Neubau Fahrzeug to still be sitting in your stash! :P

VJ the best for figure paint just shake the bottle well and tap the base of palm of your hand, mix in some tamiya matting agent (only a small amount) great choice and they dont dry out!;)

i will get some of that also, i have also brought the vallejo retarder as well it is shown above in one of the pics maarten said this gives you more time and stops the paints from drying to quick.

Got me a Hasegawa F-14 Tomcat eggplane. They are so cool.
Also got a limited edition Hasegawa F-14B Tomcat of VF-32 Swordsman in their retro scheme prior to the Tomcat decommisioning. This kit on the shelve would easily be priced at around $100+. I got it off trade me for $55. All complete not started. What a deal.

Yes ok so I'm going nuts with the tomcat thing. Sorry but Tomcats forever baby!!

In regards to using Vallejo paints, I use a 'stay- wet pallet' which stops the paint drying out before you have a chance to use it.

My latest stash acquisitions are a couple of Revell 1/32 Hawks from Hannants, a Revell 1/72 NH90 from Trademe (come on someone make us some Kiwi decals for it!), and last but not least the academy M113 that comes with all the right bits for a Kiwi one that I got from Model Air in Newmarket.

Of course next weekend I'm off to Wellington so there's likely to be some more additions care of Modelcrafts and Hobbies.

Oh, and from evilbay I've got a 1/48 Hobbyboss Tomcat and a Hasegwa T/A-4J on the way. Would love to have bought these locally, but they were both nearly half the local retail price, I think I paid less for both of them combined than the cost of just the Tomcat from my local model shop.

i am going to make my own they tell you how to do it on google ' how to make your own stay wet pallet ' a shallow plastic air tight food container, two layers of kitchen towel in the bottom for the reservoir soak with water? a sheet of grease proof paper as the membrane to put your paint on?? some people use a sheet of glass instead cut to the size of the box and a smear of vaseline round the top of the lid for a extra seal keep the air out.
and you save a few ££££'s doing it this way B)
