I've got some early photos of this, box, sprues etc but can't find them. It's the Revell repack of the old Matchbox (I think) kit.
Here it is built and sat in primer
And here it is with some colour
I took these today, all painted just needs weathering
The masking of the canopy was a right pain in the arse, I don't think I've had to mask up so much "glass" before. Also the fit of the different parts of the canopies was a bloody nightmare, I ended up using Gary glue to glue the glasswork, it doesn't mist up or fog the clear plastic like normal liquid cements which is a plus.
Hope you like it more photos to come after the weathering and if I can find the early build photos.
The formula has been kept a closely guarded secret which has been passed down from generation to generation, over millenia of model makers... Ok ok it's a home brew I concocted after moving to this rock in the middle of nowhere only to find that my favourite plasting welding compound couldn't be shipped here from dear old Blighty. So I got on the net, did some chemical research and lots of testing and KM Weld (as I like to call it) is now about as good as I can make it. I am intending to start flogging it off but I've been a bit of a slacker. I sell it to people I meet and our club etc. I sold a few bottles to the lads up in Auckland, I guess I'm just letting the word get out slowly. Maybe we could get some independant feedback here for those that have tried it.
If anyone is going to Model-X at Taupo on the 20 something next month let me know and I'll bring a bottle up it's $6 ($5 for site members) for a 50ml bottle it's got a proper bottle and everything
I remember getting the Matchbox one for a Chrissy when I was a lad, it was so cool then , all this cockpit stuff and those huge wings. I think it may have been the first kit, I painted interior parts...
I unfortunately very rarely ever go out of auckland (and no it's not because I love it here so much) so what I might do is get you to let me know next time you are heading up to jafatown and we'll catch up and do a dodgy trade in some back alley somewhere (cause there ain't many of those in aucks). I would be very keen to try some even though i love my tamiya extra thin...
And you live in Te Awamutu? Man, you must really love your job. I have next monday off so we could catch up somewhere then if that suits you. My wife also works in the CBD so im in there most nights of the week to pick her up.
Could we also get a full list of uses for this nectar of the gods ( I only ask since Davidrnz said he has never had such clean paintbrushes)... Is there anything it doesn't do? ( I assume it won't actually make the model for me... or does it????)
PLEASE!!!! who wopuld you like me to knock off for one of these bottles..... i only do large scale (1:32, 1:24) pretty much just prop planes circa 1920-1960's so i do A LOT or canopy masking and sticking if i could find ANYTHING better than PVA i would kill... you heard me,... kill for it...
I'm happy to pay over the odds for a few bottles in the mail....
