A number of the GBs are closing soon so I thought I would suggest another to keep us all occupied. The subject: dioramas! This could be really inclusive: tanks, ships, aircraft, sci-fi, figures.... Though I imagine some of you will want to argue about the definition of diorama, and how it differs to a vignette. I would imagine this would have to run for a year. I'll run it and I'll organize a prize if that's okay. So who is keen? Imagine the possibilities!!!! :cheer:

I quite like this idea. For this I doubt there would be any differences between Vignette and Diorama.
I think that as long as it meets some basic requirement like it must tell a story or set a scene. So basically you should be able to tell what is going on without any words being said in a thread. You shouldn't have to explain that Johnny is running from his burning tank and trying to find shelter in the nearby farmhouse etc etc.
Just my 2 cents (but that is the general consensus we use when doing compos).

Keen! I've got a truck I'd like to build a diorama around. I've already got plans on how it's going to look.

Arr, it was the end date, which seemed to default to yesterday, making it impossible to vote. :side:

So with both options set to Yes I'm guessing it will get approval? :P
I've got so many ideas I'm going to be stuck to choose which one to do but I might be up for it :)

How about the end date to coincide with AiC next year?

That makes sense. So the logical thing would be to start the GB shortly after this year's event.

I'd been keen to see it include existing built stuff, this would let people go a bit mad on the scenics and worry less about the models.
Yeah Chris, I could get round to that Railgun Dio I've got buzzing around, I'd need to do a lot of repair work to the old Loki but nothing I can't handle, will be a project in itself.

I've voted yes so now the 'yeses' are well ahead of the 'yeses'.

When I return to NZ I plan to build the rest of the baseboards to complete my Rhodesian bush war diorama/railway. There is already one more section than the aerial photo below.

File Attachment:

The final section will feature a Fire Force operation in progress. A stick of paratroops have just landed to form stop groups. One will be modified from this German WW2 para with a British para helmet and an FN.

File Attachment:

The rest of the Fire Force will be helibourne so I also plan to scratch build a 1/32 Alouette III G-Car using bits of a Revell Alouette II and a new cabin perspex a NZ dentist friend had just mounded for me.

And of course lots of Rhodesian bush scenery so I'm thinking big for my diorama  ... about 5m altogether. I hope the group build is lasting all the suggested year.

Mind you if Roden come out with their promised Cessna 0-2 this year one will become a RhAF Lynx then I'll need to find space to fit a small slice of a bush airstrip into the diorama with a Lynx conducting a casevac.

Ha, even though I voted Yes, I hadn't commented here. I'm in for something beginning next year or very late this year.
Would a build that I'm working on (Mad Max pickup which probably won't get finished for the Sci-Fi GB) be eligible to use in this?
My back injury has excluded me from the bench for almost three months but things look like I should be able to get back there this weekend for shorter periods. Sadly I doubt that I'll be able to complete anything by cut-off for either of the GB's I'd signed up for, even the one I'm governing (Built to Race) :P

David

On the Bench:
Tamiya 1/24 Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI (1993 DTM) - "Built to Race" GB
Revell 1/24 '77 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 - getting the "Mad-Maxed" treatment - moving to the "Diorama" GB

I was looking at the BTR GB the other day. Is it worth bumping it out another 6 months?

I want to do something for BTR but current times are not good for me, extending it could help if everyone was willing?

Have started a new thread to ask the question. Maybe an additional two months? Happy to go longer if folks wish to do that although that may run in to new GB's starting next year. :side:

I have tried to add a link to the page but I am a dud at doing this, never have been able to make these work. A little assistance would be appreciated to guide my stumbling fingers . . .

I voted "upper YES" of the options YES and YES ...

I'd like to do a non-military diorama using 2 or 3 vehicles

Cheers
