GB _ Built to Race - Discussions thread . . . was created by 1/35th Battalion
MINIMUM NUMBER HAS BEEN REACHED! :woohoo:
This Group Build is now in a holding pattern pending Grid Formation and Starters flag fall beginning post-Midnight 29th November 2015 (i.e. 30th Nov).
The Chief Marshalls' Chequered Flag will drop at Midnight on 27th October 2016.
Get Your Motors Running . . .

An idea for a GB which would include All Four or more wheeled vehicles that have been designed/built specifically from scratch or Modified from showroom to be Racing Vehicles. To include ALL classes and types of racing from off-roaders (Baja/ Dakar etc) to Open Wheeled circuit racers and EVERYTHING in between. Not to include motorcycles and quads, although the latter does fall into the four wheel concept; I think they could have a build all of their own.

EXTENDED TIMEFRAME Mooted!!!
Run time something like 30th November 2015 to 27th October 2016. Giving time to have everything ready to take to AiC 2016 :)

Any interest?
Please use the Vote options above :cheer:
Feel free to offer other ideas around this concept here too . . .

Thanks for putting up this poll David. I'm keen, if not a little scarred; having now committed to joining in on the F-14 GB as well! Anyone out there got some modelling elves that can work overtime? :P

Just keeping this potential in yuh faces.
I'm finding it somewhat odd that when a single class racing theme GB was suggested, a whole bunch of folks said yeah, yeah BUT lets open it up to a wider variety of racing themes.
Well here is that concept available, yet very few seem to be interested? Hmmmmmm? Too many GB's on the go aye? :P
Six more starters is all that is needed to get the flag drop for this one . . . .
Eight month build from late Feb to late October NEXT Year.

Next year is a bit far away for me, I want to start my car now. I'm not going to do Nascar as that means putting my hand in my pocket and I'm a bit strapped right now, but I do have a rather nice Le Mans GT I want to have a stab at.

Would it be a viable option to wave the green flag when you hit 10 participants? (that goes for all GB suggestions, unless specified when suggested)

Then those that are keen to start it ASAP can, and with a decent build length, those who don't want to straight away have a bit of time up their sleeve to begin at a later date?

Just a thought

I would love to do this Dave, but I had to vote no, simply because I may have an enforced break from modelling if we have to move house.

Hope you get sorted and you can join down the track ;)

Tempted but already commited to a handful of GB's
If this could be expanded to 2 wheels I could very easily be convinced to join in as im looking at building a bike or 2 as weeding gifts for a bike mad couple who love Rossi

That's what I've just done for the chopper build, they didn't give me a start date but it hit 10 so I created it.

Only just seen this thread. I'd like to do this funny car and paint it in black if I can get my hands on it for a reasonable price. I might not start particularly soon but I quite like the idea of plodding away on various builds simultaneously across the year. So far I'm committed to SCIFI, WW1, and this one.

I wouldn't mind building a racing car but I don't want to bite off more than I can chew at this stage. So many GBs all of a sudden with great topics but I'll just have to be watcher at this point and see how I progress in the F-14 and Helicopter builds.

Well, fingers and toes crossed we can get the numbers.
I'm leaning towards the slightly lesser known breeds (i.e. no kits available  ), possibly something like an MG or Pegaso (as shown below :) ):

Might be a good chance to have a proper crack at lacing spoked wheels :side: .

Well you never know how things will turn out. Yesterday we were looking at building a new house which would mean packing up everything and spending 5 months living with the in-laws. Today we're looking at trying our luck in the Auckland market which means one move and not much down time, so maybe. Anything is possible. If I do it though, I was thinking about building the Tamiya 300SL and makiung masks to put racing roundels on it. Researched of course

Glenn, I don't think that within a given Poll, once you have voted, you cannot change the vote. I'd suggest asking G1 if he can make that change in the back and/or PMing the Mod of whichever build you wish to opt out of, that's what the deal is . . . :P
