Hope it goes well and don't go giving the nurses too much of a hard time ;)

Thanks Wally. I now have a new (secondhand) kidney. The pain after the operation was incredible, but I'm making good progress and should be out of hospital in a few more days. Then I'm off work recuperating for a further 8 weeks. :cheer:

Okay, Grant pulled through and is now having a vote online to decide what to build next ... great stuff! Don't overdo it mate!
Back to BoB GB ... Do we reckon it's a goer?
I'm keen and was reminded of a book a friend gave me about 6 months ago so I dug it out to share with yous.

This is the genuine article first published in Dec 1940, with Jan & Feb 1941 reprints

It features the famous speech of Winston Churchill and a photograph of the King -

Being "current at the time" and no doubt with a view to German spys, it is decidedly vague about certain things, but its very clear that at this time the Hawker Hurricane is the mainstay fighter of the Realm, bless its woodiness. Note that both the Hurricane and Spitfire main photos do not show guns -

There's some wonderful potential diorama pics of Hurricane, including one with a WW2 era caravan -

There's also an excellent Mk 1 Spitfire cockpit shot (which to my mind can only mean one thing, this is no secret to the Germans) ...

These were the days when Fighter, Bomber and Coastal Commands options were fairly limited. Bristol Blenheim was considered a Fighter-Bomber, the main medium bomber was Handley Page Hampden and Hereford -

- and the heavies were still Vickers Wellington and Armstrong Whitworth Whitley -

- while Coastal Command had the Short Sunderland Mk 1.
But my favourite photos are these three "production line" shots at the end ... note the scale of Blenheim and Hurricane production!

Hope you are suitably enthused ...? How do we kick this off officially ...?
Cheers
Wally.

I reckon it is. I can start a pre-build thread with the (hopefully informal rules), dates, prizes (I have something in mind) some inspiring pics etc, banter and people posting/discussing their hoped entries. I'll crib from earlier group builds for the details. How does that sound?

Lovely pics by the way. :cheer:

Don't worry about my energy levels, I'm on a heavy dosage of steroids. I was up at 4am doing housework this morning.

The 109 E-4 should be. I think that model as contemporary with the battle. I'm not an expert though.

My 109 kit is the trop one so the e4 variant is out of the question it however also includes the options to build a non tropical e7 and going by the list on the first page I should be good I just need to get some swastika decals for it as the kit didn't include them

An E-7 is pretty much an E-4 just leave off the tropical filter and the drop tank/ underwing bombs parts.

Grant, that's incredible you have a new kidney! The human body might be the ultimate 'kit' eh! Good luck with the integration :)

Am I correct in thinking either of these qualifies as a participant in the BoB?

Cheers. I'm going to daily clinics now. I was pretty fortunate by all accounts. I spent only four nights in hospital after the operation and was up and about the day after; most spend up to two weeks.
