Dave from Mighty Ape kindly sent over some nice AK Interactive sets as prizes for Group Builds.
Up for grabs we've got the AK "Dust Effects & White Spirit set" and the "OIF & OEF Weathering set" for modern US vehicles.

I was thinking of
Modern Vehicles & Aircraft (anything from 1975 onwards)
Dust and Debris, anything that has operated in dusty inhospitable climes, this can also include Sci-Fi etc.
Alternatively I could do a photo recognition competition of say 10 random parts from anything and anyone getting the highest number correct wins.
What's your thoughts?
Anything we do is open to anyone no matter where you are in the world as these aren't dangerous chemicals I can ship them to you.
Don't forget to say a big thanks to Dave and the monkeys at Mighty Ape .

Modern sounds cool.
Quizzes are fine but google has taken some of the fairness out of online ones.

Ghost theme to go with white spirits :cheer: I know, it's late and I'm tired :)

Why not just set the group build title as 'Dust' that way folk can interpret 'dust' into the model or diorama etc in whatever modelling genre they are into from Armour to sci fi... As its less prescriptive than say "post 1975 soft skin military vehicles made in Solihull" you potentially have a larger number of potential entrants..

Yeah that was my first thought in the original post, but to be fair we've got a lot of group builds going on already so I'm looking for ideas at the moment.
Keep em coming folks :)

I agree with the idea of "Dust", that way, it should be accesssable to pretty much everyone. Maybe leave it for now until 1 or 2 of the current GB's have finished and then run it until xmas or something like that.
And a big thank you! to Dave from MA... Much appreciated mate!

In Soviet Russia, Iron Curtain GB builds you!

People look at me funny when I say I own "Fifty shades of Grey". FS36118, FS36270, FS36375.....

Nah I want them done and "dusted" so to speak, I might make it 4 weeks this gives people time to tidy up something they might already have built or make something new. I don't really want these AK products hanging around too long they might get added to my inventory :P
Same with the modern stuff, I'm leaning towards anything modern i.e. post 1980 which can include things already built but not entered in to other group builds. Just take new pictures with a logo. It's similar to what Dave did with the Tamiya competition on Mighty Ape's Facebook. In fact I might even run it through our Facebook page so that we can spread the photos around the net a bit easier. I want something short sharp but still fun, you can spend a couple of hours dusting something up and entering it.
These aren't big prizes they were gifted to us because the outer packaging has water marks on so can't be sold as new. Oh and I'm going to make these competitions free to enter as well.

Given my total lack of experience and previous interest in the topic I would be quite interested to give the modern stuff a go.. I like a challenge that pushes me to do things I would not otherwise have done!

Dust is easy and could find entries for that I am very sure!

A Big THUMBS UP for Dave at MA. Awesome thanks for those wee goodies.

In recent weeks I have picked up two commissions to "weather" some KiwiRail locos and rolling stock for a rail enthusiast customer at my local Hobby Store plus my mega build D-Day diorama so I don't have the time for a new build but would be in for "Done and Dusted" if I could enter something which I have built and is just sitting there in a box waiting for final touches though.

D1

On the Bench:
Tamiya 1/24 Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI (1993 DTM) - "Built to Race" GB
Revell 1/24 '77 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 - getting the "Mad-Maxed" treatment - moving to the "Diorama" GB

Don't let someone dim your light simply because it's shinning in their eyes !

Yes if there are any other traders out there, feel free to drop me a line if you would like to help or get involved with sponsoring competitions etc. It's all good advertising for you and good for our members.
