That gets a big HELL NO from me! I'm just coming of the back of rage smashing an old airfix kit & swearing a lot at my current Emhar kit so I ain't touching no old pieces of crap for a while.

 I've never sworn at a model so much in all my life until using Aires cockpit parts or encountering Studio 27 mould release agent... only thing that gets that stuff off is fire and brimstone  Anyway Nos needs to define what he means by "old" because not all old kits are bad...

Yeah definition of old would mean different things to different folks I spose.... I didnt mean "bad" but obviously some of them are....For me its sorta anything pre 1990ish
These were the sorta thing I had in mind

Could always go in slightly different direction:

Anything from a manufacturer starting with a T (Tamiya, Tankom, ect)
Anything first introduced in a year ending in 9 (2009, 1999, 1989 etc)
Anything in a 4 colour camoflauge
Kit with 300+ parts (or conversely less than 100 parts)
Recon - any vehicle, plane, ship, or whatever used for reconnaissance
Israel - anything used by the IDF or used to attack Israel
Animals - Any vehicle named after an animal (not Alan Price, Chas Chandler, Hilton Valentine or John Steel )

Some nice ideas in there, i like Kerry's wide open subjects

Anything with an 'animal' (not vegetable or mineral) in the name. Mustang, Tiger, Hawk, Falcon, Viper, Mosquito
Anything from TV or Movies. Top Gun, Star Wars, Top Gear, anything History Channel :-)
Decades. anything manufactured (kit or subject) in 19*0 or 20*0

Animal is a neat idea, you could build a f18 hornet, tiger tank or shel you cobra
Maybe we list suggestions for a few days and I'll keep track of ideas then post them all up and see who's keen for each?

In the build:
1/24 His & Hers Subaru diorama
1/48 Kamov KA-50 Hokum
On hold:
1/24 Hughes 500C
1/48 V-22 Osprey

I like the decades idea - maybe do two at a time for 12 months and overlap?

Start with 1910 - 1930 running for 12 months
Six months later 1930 - 1950 running for 12 months
Six months later 1950 - 1970 etc etc

Although I like a lot of the other suggestions, this would get a MASSIVE thumbs-up from me. All inclusive, all scales no-end of subject matter etc, etc. 1946 (when Churchill used the phrase 'Iron Curtain' in his Sinews of Peace speech) to The Wall being dismantled in 1990... Sign me up right now !

And I have just the kit as well. The Vietnam GB was my first and I really enjoyed it.

When should the Cold War group build go hot?

19th :-) as it covers a big chunk of that decade

Would that cover things not specifically involved in the cold war? Like space craft from a movie released in 1977 :-)

I would say I'd be in for a Eurpoe cold war GB but my track record for GB's is dismal. But then I am going to make a concerted effort to have more bench time (and less PC gaming time) over the coming months as I do need to start and finish a 1/48 F15C for my Dad's 60th in september next year.

I like the idea of the Shelf Queen, or animal, or Cold war. I may not finish many GBs, but I'll enter where I can to support them.

The Cold War GB might need a little refining to define the parameters. Any country or NATO/Warsaw Pact? Civilian AND military? Anything on the planet while the Berlin Wall existed?

The Nationals always have a NZ category either as an overall category of anything NZ related, or sub-categories of main subject categories ie. NZ aircraft, NZ armour, etc.

Given the location and significance of the Nationals next year, it would be silly not to have a WWI category/sub-categories. I will defnitely enter something WWI just for the significance.

Haha, you will get them done G2.
No what I was meaning was there are still 6 group builds that are active, just because they have reached the finish date does not mean the group build is not still active. We need some follow up from the moderators running them get them done and filed away.
