Yeah I've got another chopper on the schedule for next year so I'm open to this.
I must admit personally I'm going to limit my participation in Group Builds for the coming year unless it's something I'm either already going to build or it's something very interesting to me. I'm going to be concentrating in upping my game for the Nats. ;)

On that note, where are the 2018 nationals being held?

This info like most about the IPMS seems to be a state secret at times ;)

I take it this is meant as humour? If you search the posts here, you will find the upcoming hosts are mentioned many times, and I always let everyone know well in advance where they are to be held. The search function here will help, but also the very fact that everyone has been discussing the 2018 Armistice to include the Nationals for some time could be a bit of a hint... ;)

Didn't mean it in a harsh way, just searching google for IPMS nationals 2018 is, for instance, a fail for me! Sorry for any offence.

Hadn't seen anyone mention it here, but I'm sure it is just inattention on my part.

Been a while since I finished something in a Group Build, so I'm sure I could find a helicopter to not finish as well. I do have a few to chose from...

No offence, hence my smilies ;)
There has been LOTS of talk about Armistice next year and getting the Nationals organised, but I have updated the Upcoming Events thread with the information in one place.

Blame Google and SEO, I'll be creating a separate site site just for the 2018 Nationals with all the info as it happens, and I'll be promoting it with Google so hopefully everyone can find it even if they aren't members here.

My GB finishing record is marginally better than G2s :P

I like the idea of the 'Get it finished'. It's not as if I don't have much to choose from :pinch:

Oh maybe we could change it to"FINISH THEM ALL ANDREW":woohoo:

And funny about the helicopter build chats, the challenge has been put forward between a group of us and seems helicopters were involved.
For those who missed it, Tiger now has a helicopter to build for next years Armistice :-)
And yes Andrew, cough MD530G cough please

As per previously posted, I'll make up a full list of GB ideas and post up in next few days...

So when will you man up and do an Aircraft build then Hadley? All I see is us bending to your whims and building bloody choppers, come on grow a pair and make a plane or are you waiting until you've worked out how to build Choppers first? (yeah that's fighting talk I know :P )

Not too sure about a group build, I hate putting myself under pressure to get stuff done. In saying that depending on what it is and time frame I might consider just to participate ya know.
BTW I cant believe I agreed to build a shitty chopper kit........kindly donated by Hadley, thanks bud :)

I have to wonder if Hadley has thought this through. A helicopter GB, if successful, will result in a large helicopter class at the next Armistice/ Nationals, and given Hadley ONLY builds helicopters, will make for a very competitive class for him. Helicopters is normally a single class, just like at last Armistice.

I would be keen to build a chopper. Currently trying to track down a Dragon 1/35 UH-1D to convert to an RNZAF UH-1H Iriquois or failing that a Kitty Hawk 1/48 UH-1D with the same plan in mind.

Yeah, was checking out that AH-6J yesterday. Probably a bit more shelf space friendly than a UH-1 too.

Note that’s not a Night Fox, it’s a Defender. One thing all those kits have in common is that they will be in IDF/AF markings when done.

Only ever finished one helicopter, the 1/72 AH-1 Cobra, so think it’s time tor another and an MD500 sounds as good as any. Count me in.

Having had a look at group builds, I note we had a heli GB not so long ago, so maybe change it to something that includes helicopters instead of a pure play helicopter subject? I guess if enough people want to do helicopters then why not but don’t want to end up with a perpetual helicopter build.

Yes that was my thought exactly Craig, I've got plans to start one of my Helos (just to upset Hadley again) but I don't like to feel pressured into building it as I don't particularly enjoy building them as I don't know much about them.
I'd rather see a GB for something I have an interest in, I quite liked the Cold War suggestion because it could include a multitude of different subjects.

One thing we've never done is an Interwar GB, anything between 1918 and 1939. This could include civilian subjects, Old Bentleys, Ambulances, Buses, Civil Aircraft and most of the very early war stuff, especially the Spanish Civil war, all the stuff in the Middle East, old Armoured cars, Stukas, JU-52's, early Spanish, Italian aircraft the possibilities are quite large.

The more I think about it the more I like the idea of an interwar GB, the subject matter is huge and there's even a massive naval component available.
I think the only people it won't suit is those that exclusively build Jets or Helo's which is far lower than those that don't build aircraft, tanks, ships, cars etc

I might have to use El Presidential orders and insist that a GB for this happens if nothing as broadly encompassing is suggested.
It could also tie in to the 1918 end of the war theme at AiC, something like "man never learns from his mistakes".

That was the plan ?, maybe we should not make this a group build and just keep it as a challenge between mates and get someone to judge them separately,Steve has set down some rules.

My first thoughts on reading that timeframe was honestly not very positive.
But a conversation with Dr Google and I feel reformed and could find something that fit that range, helped by sites like

The good thing about an inter-war GB is it will leave me more time to build something I actually find interesting.

Any helicopter I built would be entered in the Nats. I get very little finished as it is, so that anything I do finish becomes a Nats entry anyway.

Cold War would be of more interest than Inter war
