True Gaz, in fact I do have a P-40N sitting in my stash, the only model with a prop. Could give that a whirl.

On the bench:
1/72 Tamiya F-16CJ

Don't forget the $5 entry fees, I'd hate people to get all excited and forget they got to cough up, so if you're poor you got until the end of November to find the cash. ;)
I think by having the fee it will encourage people to try that bit harder to make it to the finish line, it's not a lot of cash but hopefully it's just enough to provide the incentive. :)

I would say I was in but perusing my current output over the past three years I have amassed seventeen unfinished kits to three completely finished kits.

er ... I don't count the seven on the shelf, they're considered "In progress." A build only get demoted to "unfinished" when it goes back into a box for parts.

So I don't like my chances of actually finishing one.

My wife calls me a curmudgeon. I haven't looked it up but I assume it means "fun loving and free spirited" or some such twaddle. I inform and perform over at www.militarymodels.co.nz and stick my oar in here as well. My passion is WWII 1/35 armour but I'm coming around to liking the odd 1/32 thing...

Well it's open to all members pay your money take your chances and with the potential for enough cash to buy a decent kit (not that you need any more) a wee trophy, bragging rights and unique Rank picture, what do you have to lose (apart from the aforementioned $5).

Hey Gary, have you thought of taking some of the proceedings for the ongoing costing of the site itself say 5% or something?

I was thinking, really hard :pinch: , if we put the entry at $10 and say we got twenty "competitors" that's $200 in the kitty, minus say 10% for Darth Emperor Gary that would put the prize money at $180 and $20 toward the upkeep of the Death Star. What do you guys reckon ?

Thanks guys I do really appreciate the thought, running costs for the site currently sit at around $35 a month if I take in to account the cost of licenses etc over the year. It's not a great deal of money and for me the amount of enjoyment I get out of this site not to mention all the cool tips, tricks and I often first dibs on members offers etc (only cos I'm here so much). It's a drop in the ocean to me and it's well worth it.
To be honest I don't visit any other site now, you guys are all members of other sites and you bring in the new ideas so there's no need :)
This site currently sits at 6.5GB which may not sound a lot but as far as sites go it's fairly large, this is testament to all of the hard work and input from the members (that and coupled with Andrew and G2's picture spamming :P )

Basically I rent a large portion of web server, under that I have different sites and each one has a certain amount allocated to it. Every couple of months or so I add another GB to the disk or bandwidth allocation.
This way I get notified when it needs expanding again. I think bandwidth for this month is currently sat at around 15GB for this site alone.

It's not poking fun, it's misdirection.

If people are all looking at you they're not seeing me stashing unfinished kits under the bottom of the shelves.

Of the two I've chosen North Africa & The Desert Wars because I can probably stretch to that from my Pacific bent and also more easily find a Kiwi subject there.

Either way I'm a starter. If I have to buy something in then that's how it goes. Anyone got an LRDG Chevy and figures? Always wanted to do one of those. Plenty of aftermarket stuff out there to fancy it up a wee bit.

by the time this kicks off I think I will have been a member for at least 3 months and have met the number of posts criteria.

Have been away from here for a while. And the hobby. Missus has been in the old country for 6 weeks so I've been running home and business on me lonesome. All back on an even keel now. lookin' forward to this . . . :cheer:

On the Bench:
Tamiya 1/24 Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI (1993 DTM) - "Built to Race" GB
Revell 1/24 '77 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 - getting the "Mad-Maxed" treatment - moving to the "Diorama" GB

To be fair/honest it's not really about the criteria it's about not letting the "wrong" type of people enter. The build is still about fun even though it has a cash prize, I just don't want to see the real pro's and hustlers enter just for the prizes. It's open to any of the regular members regardless of number of posts.
I chose D-Day and beyond but only because I'm going to be starting my Arnhem Dio in the near future. I'm always up for something from North Africa anyway :)
I'm also thinking of doing the B-24, "Lady Be Good" as well and do it as a wreck.
So either is good for me.

Don't forget to vote people, I'll go with whatever gets the highest amount of votes by Sunday 30th 12:00pm NZ Time.
I'll then post the bank/paypal details and you'll then have until the end of November to get your entry fees in. I'll add participants to a list as I recieve the entry fees, you don't need to specify what you're going to build as long as we get regular build updates etc.
