Yesterday was International Hobbit day to mark the birthday of Bilbo Baggins (yes I do know it's not real )
To mark this event me and the missus went to the special event over at Hobbiton Movie set in MataMata, it was a huge event with over 400 people from around the world.
The wife and I decided to give the whole Cosplay thing a go so we made our own costumes, I went as a 6' Dwarf and the wife went as an Elf. I made the helmet, axe, bow and boot caps on the 3D printer and the wife made the costumes.
We had a great day and even got to hobnob with Mark Hadlow aka Dori from the Hobbit movies.
To top it all off I won best costume and the wife won the raffle.
Now I've got to decide what to do with the costumes.............
Thanks mate, was a fantastic day. If Tolkien is your thing you can't go wrong going there, I think you need to be a bit of a fan to appreciate the atmosphere. I wasn't alone there were 400 other sad Hobbitses there to
Way too hot to wear that any later in the year, next year's costume won't be made from curtain material!!!
A nice more atmospheric photo, this photo was taken by the Hobbiton Tours photographer, they gave me a copy.
