My partner and I will be in Paris for five days this year in November and I'm trying to work out the logistics of doing a day trip to Ypres and particularly Tyne Cot Cemetery. My great uncle died in the battle of Broodseinde in 1917 and his memorial is in Tyne Cot, so I would like to visit. How far is it? Anybody here visited the area? We are pretty busy, so it has to be a short visit. Any advice gratefully received.

There will plenty of trains on this trip. I've lined up the Glacier Express and the Bernina through Switzerland. We are also going to Japan on the way back so we will do the Shinkansen between Tokyo and Osaka.

Re. Ypres, I had a good search around and found a private tour. Pretty expensive but will save a lot of hassle.
